11.27.12 MUCH NEED BREAK!!!

Thursday after the race I felt really good. I went home with a 37:36 time on the 3.2 mile (5k) course. There were TONS of people (16,000 was the last guestimate I heard), not to mention strollers and dogs. There were also hills that you don't get on the treadmill :) It was ROUGH, but I'm proud to say I finished and I accomplished a part of my goal. My weight wasn't were I wanted it and it certainly isn't where I want it now. I got back to Knott weighing in 275 lbs Saturday. This morning preworkout I was sitting around 273 lbs. I'm still aiming high and hoping to get down into AT LEAST the low 260's by the end of the month! If I stay on course I'm set to do just that.

This morning was a great day to start back up! I'm thankful for several days that I was able to lay off. Yesterday Barb and I ran to Midland to buy some Xmas presents for her family. We did a shake leaving town. We ate at souper salad and I pigged out...little too much pasta I'm sure! Then I had half a bag of peanuts in the afternoon and another half shake (1 scoop).

Mase had another game last night. He got to play a little in the 1st quarter. He played the whole half time. He scored and he's doing great! He's come a long way from last year. He needs to work on fighting for the ball, aggressiveness and sprints! I'm super proud of him and he's really coming into his own. He reminds me frequently there's little he can't do!!!

Papa and Nana will be here this weekend to watch Madi and Mase do their play. I'm pretty excited to see them. It will be nice to have some time with my parents for just my family. We never really get those times. I'll also get Dad to hook a brother up with Rey's cage! That's all for now, until then...

Mase had a late practice, so I took advantage of it and worked out. I took a shower in the old gym and then headed over to the new gym to watch the high school boys. They looked good against Snyder! Bout had a few fights, but it all worked out. Until then...

November 22nd RACE DAY!!!!

Well, race day finally made it! I had a great time. Walked a lot more than I should have, but I feel like I finished ok. Barb and Madi didn't have such a good time. Madi started crying and Barb kinda got frustrated. Jeff and Nat went and seemed to have a lot of fun.

Meal:
Thanksgiving...don't ask don't tell!!! :)

Workout:

November 16th

Had a fun day in Lubbock, but it kinda sucked w/o Barb. She was teaching the AIM girls and from all I heard and understood she did AWESOME! I knew she would. I took back madi's coat to get her a bigger size. didn't have the coat, so I got a different 1...of course that didn't fit. Luckily Barb's brand new jacket does fit Madi, so convenient (for barb) the switch was made. Mase got a new jacket, new dress shoes and a highlander video game piece. KC got some new shoes. Got a few Xmas presents for nieces and nephews. All in all, expensive day, terrible food consumption, didn't really get much done...but at least I got to hang with barb some! That always makes it a good day. We leave Tuesday for FTW and run on Thursday. I really have to get serious!!! Think I'm gonna do a little road work, since the 5K WON'T be on a treadmill :) Until then...

Meals:
Raw Meal shake for breakfast
Tall caramal brulee late frap (excellent!!!)
Lunch was chick-fil-a spicy chicken, fries and coke zero
had way too many wheat thin "honey sticks"!
Dinner - small portion of pasta w/ homemade sauce (supposedly loaded w/ veggie and good for you)
late night popcorn!

Workout:
Madison and I walked Rey for the below amount of time.

Nov. 14th HUMP DAY!

Off to the races. Looks like it's going to be a busy day. Barb and I are headed into town 2 buy some groceries and then I've gotta hit the office hard most of the day! Decided to walk it out the majority of the time today. Jogged for 15 minutes, so it's all good. The 5k is a week from tomorrow! I need to throw it down and get serious...time is a wasting! I also need to continue to keep fighting toward the goal of 256 lbs next month! I'm sitting a little under 270 lbs, so that means I've got a month and a week 2 drop more than 10 lbs. I know I can, but I really have to behave for Thanksgiving and go hard til December 22nd! Until then...

meal:
2 eggs, 2 E-toast (1 w/ honey on it) mini coke zero, tea)
Wrap (100 cal), skinny cow, mucho spinach, 6 slices of ham, zero

November 13th Back in the saddle

I had a good start this morning. Felt pretty good and I knew I need to hit the gym (skipped Sunday AND Monday, but walked a good ways w/ Barb Saturday). KC seems to be feeling a little better this morning. She has kinda been sick at her stomach the last few days. Went to a parent/teacher yesterday. KC is doing good, but we have to start spending a lot more time reading with her! This is a pretty good week for catching up in school and sermons. Just a matter of hunkering down and doing it! Better get started, until then...

meals:
1 egg, 1 piece of E-toast, 1 piece of cinnamon E-toast w/ honey
6 oz coke zero & a jar of h2o to drink w/ breakfast

November 12th Slow weekend, bad start

Got a lot done for school, got hay out for the dogs cause it's getting cold, got 2 hang with Mase some, and over all a good day. Didn't get up to workout this morning and I should have, but it is what it is and I'll have to decide better. I watched a show about the SEALS and how 10% is physical, but 90% is MENTAL...that was very true today! I've got to decide to do better. Tomorrow is another day and I've got just a little over a week...gotta get serious and do this! I've got just a touch over a month before the wedding! I've really gotta get ready for the wedding. This is a life long process and progress, but I also have a goal to get to. It's time to buckle down and do this! Until then...

Meals:
Raw Meal Shake - one scope, banana, honey
French dip, fries and tea @ Hilltop
cup of low fat cottage cheese
2 cups of mixed roasted/salted nuts

Workout:
Too cold, too lazy...didn't do ANYTHING!

Nov 9th Thxgvg @ SANDS

Had a pretty awesome morning (as you can see from the picture at the bottom)! Got a good jog in, had a good breakfast and prayer time with Barb. Now in the office trying to get the bulletin sent and do a couple of quick things before we head up to the school to eat a "thanksgiving meal" @ the SANDS cafeteria. I'm exactly 13 days away from race day! I'm getting pumped. Still trying to decide what to do. I don't want to leave Barb, but I'm pretty sure she won't be able to keep pace. I guess I'll find out in time. I better get back to work. Until then...

Meals:
Breakfast shake
Turkey and green beans
Raw meal shake
popcorn & coke zero @ fball game
popcorn @ the house

Workout: all treadmill
Today I set a new record of 32 min @ 2.85 miles. I was cruising along good...really about worn out and ALMOST ready to quit, but I had just enough left in me to finish 3 miles and set my new record. I was pushing myself knowing I had 2 days off coming and that I could finally have a good idea of what I could run the 5K @. Then the stupid machine QUIT! It's like someone pulled the plug. Oh the irony.
Over all the following is what I did get done:
5 min warm up
12 min @ 4.5
8 min @ 5.0
12 min @ 5.5
5 min cool down

November 7th

Welp, I know a lot of people woke up to extreme disappointment seeing Obama as our president AGAIN! Seems like America would have learned something from the last 4 years, but I'm reminded of 1 Samuel 8 when God said "Listen to the people..." and then told Samuel to WARN the people and each time Samuel said, "HE WILL TAKE..." I suppose every nation must fall some time or another and perhaps God is humbling us, so that we will be desperate enough to seek Him? Enough about politics...hate politics and probably always will!

Had a good breakfast date with the wife at subway. We bought some groceries and I'm just now getting into the office! Oh well, I'll managed to get it all done hopefully! I've really got to work hard today and tomorrow. Had a good workout, feeling good, 15 days til D day 5K!!! Gotta keep motivated. Until then...

Meal:
12" egg white, pepper jack cheese wheat sub. & a coke zero
cashew raw bar
tons of water and tea!

Nov 6th election day

Yesterday was Richard's funeral. It was a really hard day for the family, but much needed! Larry preached a sermon and I read the Obit and a few words from the grandkids. At the graveside Larry read 1 Thes and I prayed. I really appreciated Larry including me in. Landon did a good job singing. It will be rough for Jean over the next... I know the family will surround her with love and encouragement though!

Tons to do in the office. I need to renew my school vision and run a little harder! Deadlines are coming up quick and I really only have a few more weeks. Thxgvg break is flying up on me and we have the 5K that week as well.

Andy Stanley had a great class about money Barb and I just watched. We will teach that Sunday. Barb is going to help me with the "how" we will teach that. I look forward to seeing how it all plays out. Until then...

November 2nd

I was a little tired this morning getting on the treadmill, b/c I sat off nearly all week (hence the lack of posts!) Tuesday we went to see Jean in Lubbock, Wednesday Sue came over for breakfast and I skipped the gym. Thursday was my birthday and I didn't do much of anything! I haven't been eating too bad, but I definitely haven't been eating good. I've been "maintaining" for the most part. I'm still sitting around 270 lbs, but by tomorrow (according to my goals) I should be down to 265 lbs! I just need to behave this weekend and refocus. Turkey trout is ever nearer and I'm not going to be able to make it without getting serious! I'll probably try to at least walk some tomorrow. I've got the youth event tomorrow night and TONS of studying still to do. We'll see how I do. Until then...

I'm filling in for Steve since he's w/ Richard in SD. Mark's dad took a turn for the worst today as well. Hard for Lucas and Mark I'm sure! I'm about to eat my soup, so I better get off here. October 23rd

I had a good evening last night with Mase. We went to Reagan's game. I had a foot long chicken T, but the lady went CRAZY with the amount of chicken she put on the thing! Then I had a bag of popcorn at the game. I really need to be on my guard when I'm out...especially when it comes to eating! that's just killing me.

Today:
Fairly normal morning. Mark and Debbie's kids are flying to SD to be w/ the family. No word yet on anything! I started a series Sunday a.m. called "When God Calls", but I think I'll preach John 11 this Sunday. It just seems like it will be more appropiate. I've got a lot to do this week in school! Papers to write, regular posts, journaling and test, so I better sum it up and get busy!

p.s. I did jump on the scale to see if I'm coming back down, b/c over the weekend I had shot up. Looks like I'm headed in the right direction 272 lbs. My goal by this Saturday is 268, so I really need to get on it!!!

Meals:
Breakfast shake
mid morning snack: Raw "Golden Cashew" bar (230 cal)

October 22nd rough weekend

Well, if you are paying any attention to the dates you'll notice I missed a few days! I'm back in the game and had a good look over my goals and realized I've strayed far from them. I think I'm back on track now and hope to catch back up. It's just a matter of living a little more disciplined and staying on top of my game.

Friday we were in Midland visiting Joyce and doing Barb's Dr appointment. Saturday we went to Brent and Dana's wedding most of the day in Lubbock. Yesterday was pretty rough. Richard Parker is in San Diego and not doing well. We had "back up" everything and the general mood was DOWN!!!

Today started off a little tired, but Barb was looking smoking hot. She went to prayer time while I hit the tread for a bit. Didn't get much time in, but got the ole heart rate up, so I feel pretty good about that. We had breakfast together @ subway, shopped walmart and HEB and now we are home headed to Karen's to give her lunch. We are blessed and though yesterday WAS NOT my day, today is looking a lot better!

Meals:
12" egg white, bacon and pepper jack cheese wheat sub w/ a little chipotle whatever.

Workout:

October 18th A little lazy

Well, Barb wanted to go back to bed after getting the kids off and it's not hard to talk me into going back to sleep :) When I got back from dropping off the kids she was already asleep. I went to sleep and woke up to a phone call at nearly 10 a.m.! Did a little homework, finished up a.m. lesson, prepared for Bible class and obviously...journaled a little!

It's great to have Barb home. Gonna watch some TV w/ the kids now. Tomorrow we will go check Barb's Thyroid in Midland and visit Joice (D'Aun's mom that broke her hip). Kids are out of school, so we should have some fun! Then Saturday we will go to Brent and Dana's wedding at Monterrey c of C. We are gonna be super busy over the next day or two, but it's all good. I get to be with my family and a little change of pace. I'll need to write a paper and take a couple of tests. Until then...

October 16th "anxious day!"

Well, got up this morning and no word from Barb! She's been in Panama City for a day+ and I haven't heard from her. Her flight is at 12:45 today from Panama to Miami and then she will fly Miami to DFW. The latest I should hear from her is around 9 p.m. tonight if all goes well! I'm feeling pretty frustrated and ready for her to get back home or at the very least hear she's ok.

Got up and felt rested, but still a little lazy! Made the gym anyways and did well. I've got to finish my school journal today and work on my sermons. Everything else can wait. Guess I'll be up late cleaning for momma's arrival tomorrow!!! Until then...

p. s. Barb arrives in DFW at 9:05 tonight!!!!! Can't wait to see her. We've all missed her bad!

October 15 start to the week

Long day! Didn't feel like hitting the treadmill this morning. Later of course I regretted not going, but it's hard to get motivated right now for whatever reason. I think it's mainly cause I miss Barb!!!

After school I took the kids to Walmart. Mase and I got a haircut, so we look a little less scary for momma :) Good day over all. Glad to have most of my a.m. sermon done for Sunday! Gotta finish a lot of schooling tomorrow and work on my p.m. sermon and Bible class.

It's kinda funny, I'm not even motivated to post! I guess I'll try to get a good night's rest and hope for my energy tomorrow. Still two sleeps til I see Barb again! Until then...

Meal:
Water and a RAW bar
shake (pretty much the same as before)

October 14th Rough day

Day started off rough with a smart Alec come comment. One more withdraw from that family again. My friend walked into class unhappy, b/c his wife is really struggling. I need to spend more time in prayer. Blagraves invited us over for lunch. Had a really good time and enjoyed seeing them! Mr. Smith said some kind things about our family among others. Preach was monotone and a little boring, but good message all the same. Bret did a good job tonight and I enjoyed his presentation. It was nice to have a Sunday off! Steve did a good job presenting the shadow box to Bret. He really enjoyed it and I think it was a blessing. I'm thankful to teach giving and honoring. It's an important lesson to learn and though money is freely given around here, time and respect is being learned. Good progress, but w/ 7 in a class out of 20 something...long way to go!

Missing Barb pretty bad! Kids did good today and enjoyed the day for the most part. I introduced them to "Ernest" and now they love his cheese ball goofiness. Tomorrow starts another week and I'm thankful. Had a horrible weekend for eating and exercise, but I'm not giving up. I'm not a quitter. I know getting on the treadmill in the morning won't be easy, but it will feel so good to sweat and be ready to conquer again. Gotta keep training for the 5k Turkey trot. Lots of work still to do and Xmas will be here before you know it! Gonna head toward bed. Until then...

Meal:
Spinach, blueberry, honey, banana and other good stuff for breakfast
Lunch - bunless hamburger, chips, dip and guacamole
Dinner - 3 small burger patties and a shake

October "lucky" 13

Well, we all got to sleep in today. It was nice to get up late and not worry too bad about things I had to do. I finally got all my schooling done today. I was happy to have that part of it done. I have a lot to do next week and I really have to get on it Monday and Tuesday! I want to spend Wednesday w/ Barb!

Mase mowed the law, KC helped w/ laundry and vacuuming and a lot of other stuff. Madi always helps do stuff....kitchen, bathrooms and I don't remember what all else. She's been a HUGE help this week, especially w/ KC's hair.

OU KILLED Texas! It was awesome! Thought it was gonna be a super long year, but the Sooners finally woke up. Got my homework done. Had to go to town for some stuff for Bible class in the morning, so I ended up not getting to work out or walk like I wanted to do. We watched "Ernest goes to camp"...bit cheesy, but the kids liked it so I was happy and we had a good time. I'll take the dogs walking tomorrow and try to eat good. Until then...

Meals:
Eggs and two croissants w/ sausage
Spaghetti and a little popcorn
As you can read...not the lowest calorie day!!!

October 12 rough day

Today was weird from nearly the minute I got up! I felt kinda weak. I did a little longer workout, but not as intense. I ate horrible all day & never felt satisfied. I miss Barb & I'm stressed about school...neither of which help! Today was "off" & I'm weighing on Fridays from mow on. I'm down into the HIGH 260's!!!!

Madi fell pretty bad on the bleachers at school today, but I think she is gonna be ok. Her knee gave her a hard time, but she had ice on it most of the afternoon so I think that helped a bunch.

I took the kids today to the movies! We had a great time! I loved the time w/ them, but I've got to be more disciplined & make choices before I get into the situation! Tomorrow I'll finish up my schooling & I'll do better! Maybe I can take the kids & dogs for a walk. Until then...

October 11th Really tired!!!

Weirdest dream to wake up to in a long time. Barb and I were in Monterrey and I managed to drive us into a rushing river. I had made it to some trees on the side and Barb was being swept by b/c of the current...when my alarm sounded! Horrible way to wake up. Once I realized it was a dream, I felt the pain and my hip and realize THAT wasn't a dream! It's Thursday morning and we are all more than a little tired! I'm glad we don't have the meeting today, b/c I would probably fall asleep in it.

I'm skipping the morning gym for a nap. I know that sounds horrible, but I told the kids I'll take them to the game tonight and I'm just gonna hit the gym then! I'm hoping after a little more sleep I'll be ready for the day. If I go to the gym and don't rest, I won't make it through the weekend and the kids need me to be on 24/7.

Meeting finished great, I'm doing well in school. Got some reading done for my sermon, so I'm sitting pretty good for a Thursday! I'll have a lot to finish up today and tomorrow, but I think I've got time. I miss Barb pretty bad at this point, but I know she's being blessed this week! I'll post exercise and meals later on today. Until then...

October 10th

You can see the sweat drops on the screen. This was a GOOD workout! Don't worry, I cleaned it when I was done.

The late nights and early mornings are starting to show...at least w/ KC. She was crying and having a really hard day this morning. I'm hoping to bring them over straight after the meeting tonight and get the girls to bed! Thursday and Friday will be EASY once we get over this meeting hump. Last night went good. Chris is doing a good job and everyone really seems to enjoy his lessons.

I SLOW jogged nearly the whole time this morning in my workout! My knee is not hurting me near as bad. My back was a little sore when I first started, but it warmed up. Probably need to even stretch the back before jogging. I feel like I'm getting in good shape and soon enough I will be ready for the turkey trot.  Jeremy and Kyle have both said they want to do a run, so maybe later this week when I get a little time I'll have to look up info on local 5Ks. I'm working on getting a picture up on workouts. I'll have that some time in the near future. Until then...

Meals:
Morning Shake! Tons O spinach, tbsp of honey, handful of blueberries, a banana, 5 packs of splenda (gotta get truvia!), 3 cups (30 cal a cup) of almond milk

Mexican pile up @ the Parker's...2 chips, lettuce, meat, beans, salsa

Workout:
5 min warmup
15 min treadmill  @ 4.5
10 min treadmill @5.0
10 min treadmill @4.0
Last 2 min on treadmill @ 6.0

5 min cool down

I registered for the turkey trot this morning. It got me to looking on the internet and finding other 5Ks. I found one Oct. 27 at 8 a.m. I'm hoping to get to do it, but we will see soon.

October 9th

Good morning! KC fought me a little this morning to get ready, but for the most part the kids are doing great. We all REALLY miss momma, but we are gonna make it. We had a good night last night at the meeting. Chris is a doing a great job and everyone seems to enjoy him. The kids have been so good I've decided to take them to the movies on Friday night. It's the first time in a long time, but I know they will finish the rest of the week strong and work hard! They desire a good reward.

After working out I came home and weighed. I know it's only supposed to be on Mondays, but after the weekend I had, I needed a little "pick me up". I weighed in at 273 lbs! That's 18 down from where I started Sept 11 @ 291 lbs. I think that's the lowest I've been for more than a year.  I can almost smell 20 lbs down now :)! I had a "detox day" with just fruit and smoothies yesterday. I did go to bed a little hungry last night. One of my goals is not to eat after 8 and the meeting ends up throwing all that off! I'll write the rest of my meals later on. Until then...

Meals:
Shake: tons of fresh spinach, honey, blueberries, banana and up to line 4 (I'm assuming that's 4 CUPS) of h2o.
lunch was good today: I had a spinach as a base with a veggie burger, fried egg and a slice of pepper jack cheese and salsa on top! I also had a cup of fat free cottage cheese.
Dinner: JUICE!!! 3 apples, 2 pears, 2 plums, romane lettuce, 3 carrots, cucumber, celery

Workout was great! I'm really beginning to build endurance for the turkey trot:
5 min warmup
15 min treadmill @ 4.3
8 min treadmill @ 4.0
9 min treadmill @ 4.7
1 min treadmill @ 5.5
5 min cool down

October 8th Finally back in the grove

Welp, I had a pretty crappy weekend as far as food goes! Started out eating chili at mom and dads. Ate bad all the home Saturday. I did ok Sunday considering it was a potluck. I had turkey, green beans and a little meat. I had the same for dinner. I weighed in at 278.4 lbs this morning. I'm a little up, but that's AWESOME after the food nightmare I had this weekend!

Great start to the week! The kids got up pretty easy and they have been super helpful with everything. I promised them a little extra allowance if they would help me, so I'm pretty sure they will step up. They are good kids and I'm thankful to reap some of the hard effort Barb and I have put into them. God is good! Until then....

Workout:
5 min warm up
15 min on treadmill @ 4.0
13 min on treadmill @ 4.3
Finished with 2 min on treadmill @ 5.5
5 min cool down

Meals:
Awesome shake: honey, coconut syrup, tons of spinach, a banana, some blueberries and salba
Banana
Peach
Apple
Raw Bar
Glass of splenda tea
Tons of watermelon from our garden...super sweet!
shake: blueberries, banana, coconut syrup, h2o, salba, honey

p.s. I got in the pool at mom and dads house (75 degrees) and it wasn't too bad, but I think it helped my knee and hips. I haven't felt great most of the weekend, but I felt better today and the jog went pretty ok!

October 5th "not good"

Welp, if I was looking for a challenge...this was my day. In the end I have to say I didn't handle it too well! We traveled from Knott to NRH. We had a good, uneventful trip! We stopped at Subway in Abilene and I ate a 6" chicken teriyaki sub. It was great and I feel good about that. I also had a liter or two of h2o on the way.  When we arrived at Mom and Dad's I ate a couple of plums.  Got in the pool (cold, but not as bad as I thought) for my hip and knee. I really think it did the trick, b/c both feel better! After that I kinda went outta control!

Meals:
breakfast was a shake full of all kinds of goodness!
Lunch 6" chicken teriyaki
Dinner 2, count them TWO bowls of papa's chili. A piece of green chile cornbread and 4 or 5 handfuls of popcorn!

WO:
With my knee still hurting and traveling I decided it best not to work out. I'm hoping to rest the knee til Monday and hit it back STRONG!

This is a rare day that I can learn a lesson from. I can stay down or get back up, dust off and do this! As the title suggest, this can be done, but its a matter of me sticking to my guns, making the most of every opportunity and not giving in! Injury during an effort of weight loss is hard, but it's a small set back. I plan to go 80% to 100% starting tomorrow! I know it will be hard with invites to eat with people, but I really have to swallow my pride and do what is best for me and my health!

God, please give me the strengthen and heal my body!

October 4th hurt knee

Nothing makes you say "ah dooky!" like when you are trying hard to eat right and exercise and then you injure yourself! I woke up with my left knee feeling pretty sore! I went to the gym, but then decided to come with Lucas in the afternoon. I took my two mid terms. Of course I got 88% on my Negotiation class (cause I can't seem to do any better than a B in that stupid class) and I got a 94% in my Communications in Professional Settings class! I've still got much more to do before I get to go to sleep tonight, but at least I get Friday and Saturday "off". Barb, the kids and I are heading to FTW to drop Barb off for her trip to Panama! It's gonna be a LONGGGGGGG nearly 2 weeks, but I'm super glad for her that she gets to do this and I know it means the world to her. She's doing awesome and it always revives her to come back to Knott and minister! I'll probably try to journal tomorrow and I think I'm going to weigh in before I head to FTW, so I can check my progress and note changes and challenges during this weekend "on the road". Welp, until then...

Meals:
Shake for breakfast (spinach, honey, blueberries and bananas)
TWO bowls of home made veggie soup for lunch
snacked on peanuts for "dinner" (about 4 p.m. before heading to the gym)
gallon+ of h2o today

Workout:
5 min warmup
20 min treadmill @ 4.3
5 min treadmill @ 5.3 (average, b/c I did a minute or two @ 5.0, a minute or so at 5.5 and the last minute @ 6.0)
5 min cool down

October 3rd

Another good day. Got new kicks yesterday, so at first I wasn't too happy on the treadmill. Moved the laces up one notch and all is well now. They're no sketchers, but I think I'll enjoy them. I got to thinking that I'm working out pretty good and I'm still pretty "large and in charge", so I don't have to go extreme on my calorie counting or completely raw. I had an egg on toast w/ cheese for breakfast that was awesome and a coke zero (not so good). I had a 1/2 liter during the workout and I've started my 64 oz strips cup O' h2o already, so I'm off to a good start.

This morning I just realized I have TWO DAYS, before the storm and I've got TONS to do, so I better get to it. Until tomorrow...

Workout:
5 min warmup on the treadmill
28 min 4.3
7 min 5.0 (mixed in throughout the 35 minutes on the treadmill)
5 min cool down (didn't forget today)

Meals:
Egg over medium (80 cal), slice of pepper jack cheese (70 cal), on a toasted muffin (160 cal) coke zero
Lunch was an awesome veggie soup!
Dinner was 2 1/2 patties of veggie burgers! light life grilling meatless burger 190 cal black bean burger 120 cal (1 1/2 of the black bean burger)
Drank about a gallon or so of h2o today.

Steve Parker taught the adult class out of 1 Corinthians. He's really growing as a teacher! He's prepared and has good interaction with the class. He's one of my new favorite teachers...Mark's a good one too!

I've got tomorrow to finish up my schooling and it's not going to be easy! I really wanted to get ahead in my lessons, but it looks like once again it's catch up time! Oh well, it's getting done. I kinda forgot a bunch of stuff last week in my Communications in professional settings class...which SUCKS! I'll try to make it up. Til tomorrow...

October 2nd in Midland w/ Barb

Well, I got up this morning and at the risk of TMI, my system was...we will just say "flushed". I had a great workout.

5 min warmup on the treadmill
30 min @ 4.3 which is .3 higher than what I usually do. It's the difference between walking and nearly a jog
5 min jog 5.0
FORGOT to cool down (guess I did that the rest of the day)

Between the "flush" and workout I was tempted to weigh again...so I did! Now I'm only supposed to weigh Monday mornings, but just like last week I cheated. All that to say this morning I weighed 274 straight!!!! That means since the beginning of this month I've managed to shed 17 lbs which is a good chunk of change for anyone!

Meals:
I started the day off w/ a Spinach and variety of fruit shake
Lunch was an awesome chicken strip salad w/ fat free (still 100 calories!) honey mustard dressing
Mase and I are headed to Reagan's fball game, so I'm thinking I'm gonna have a 6" blackforest again.

Got NOTHING done, but had an awesome day with the wife! We bought a Ninja "Professional" blender, she bought a suitcase for her trip, we got tons of groceries and oh yeah, I discovered DATES today!!! Those things are sweeter than candy. They were $9.99 a POUND at a healthfood store (whichever one is attached to strawberry fields) in Midland, but they are worth $20 a pound...they really were THAT good! I also ordered 36 "raw revolution" bars and they arrived today. Pretty excited about those suckers. I think they will be really handy and I'm pretty sure Barb will take some down to Panama for snacks or whatever. She's doing awesome by the way! Welp, it's time for Mase and I to head to Reagan's game. Until tomorrow...

Quote of the day:
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." ~ Aristotle

Day in review:
Good day! Got up early and exercised. Came home and finished my sermon and texted to encourage a couple of people. Late lunch w/Barb. Visited Bobby and Judy. Talked to the kids a bit about the day. Everyone had a good one. Madi is feeling a little sick @ her stomach. Seems to be going around. Went to Ackerly meeting. Gave my 8 version Bible to Alison and she really liked it. Levi had a great message. Cara T told us how great Mase was and all the kids he helps. Mrs. Grumbles told us that KC is great w/ Zack. Everyone was really glad we came and encouraged to see us1
Hungry, but got home at 8:30 and decided it was too late to eat. I'll have a great breakfast tomorrow. Til then...

Sept 25
Good start! Up early and not that tired. I went to bed SUPER hungry, but really didn't get up that hungry.

Workout:
5 WU on tread
20 m tread on level 4 and finished running 1 min on 5.0
10 on Elip 3/7 interval

a few apples, a banana
i didn't eat anything after about 6:30 b/c of the ackerly meeting. not ideal, but made a goal of not eating after 8 so I didn't.

Sept 26
Didn't really "want to" workout today, but I sure didn't want to come home and eat or go back to bed. In the moment the body says let's just come tomorrow, but the mind pushes through and in the end if the goals win over the sometimes lazy desires, success is present!!!

Weight:
I "cheated" a little today, b/c I wanted to make sure I'm still on track. So, I weighed. I was pleasantly surprised to see 277.6 lbs staring back at me. I really should be more disciplined and let that be my Monday morning excitement to wake me up and get me going, but I see it there by the toilet every time I go. I guess it was good this time, but I'm going to try really hard to wait and from here on out just weigh on Mondays.

Today I'm finally getting closer to working out an hr a week day:
WO:
5 WU
30 elip
15 tread 4.0
2 tread 5.0
5 CD

Meal:
I also told myself I would allow an egg and toast every Monday morning, but HUMP day is kinda feeling hard. My stomach is begging for food and I'm going to have lunch with the kids, so I want to be plenty full! I had an apple and banana already and since we are out of salad...egg w/Ezekiel bread it is :)
for lunch i had a raw revolution bar (chocolate crave). its now 4:30 eating two bowls of caldo (no chicken), carrots, corn, shredded squash, salsa, limes & salt

Sept 27th
Still on a roll! Got to sleep in a little today, so that was nice. The down side is I got started in the gym later, but I still nearly got in my hour and I'm well on my way to make my goal of 5 hours a week! Lots to do today!!! Gotta finish up some school stuff, finish my Sunday pm sermon and maybe even start looking at sermons for Oct 14th or even week 6 for school.

1/2 pack of roasted peanuts

Sept 28 Crazy lazy day!
Woke up to tons of rain and it was still going. After the late night workout, I decided that the gym was NOT calling my name this morning. Not sure if I'll make it up 2mrw or later in the day? Slept til like 11! Everything feels ok, just really tired.

Meals:
Banana, blueberry shake
foot long chicken teriyaki subway
half a tub of cottage cheese
2 slices of pepperoni pizza
TOTAL WENT OUT OF CONTROL STARTING AT LUNCH!!!
I'm back on track and I'm going to do better tomorrow. This was not my weekend and most of it was emotional. I think I need to run to the gym when problems arise. I really need a better plan for when hard times comes. I let too little bug me too much!

Back in the saddle

It's been a little over a year ago that I completed the 30 day raw challenge. It was a pretty awesome accomplishment in my life. I'm thankful to God for the strength and my wife for the support, because without that I wouldn't have made it.

I found myself again pushing nearly 300 lbs and not happy with myself at all. I had a closet full of good clothes that I couldn't wear. My wife was on to me pretty frequent about dieting, exercise, etc. She's been doing great on P90X! Around that same time a friend was in the hospital about to lose his leg to diabetes! All that came together, along with the knowledge that I have no life insurance or health insurance and I'm a ticking time bomb!

I decided to go as raw as I could and as "vegetables and fruit" (aka "natural") as I could in hopes of rebooting my system and getting my life back. I started Saturday. I know it's only Thursday, but I've had a pretty good start! I was completely raw til today. I started at a weight of 287 and I weighed 282.8 this morning. I have been to the gym twice and at least walked everyday except Monday. My hips haven't hurt as bad and I can feel myself turning a corner!

Today for lunch I had a turkey, spinach and olive sandwich. It was still really lean (though not raw, much less vegan). I feel good about things and know that through pray, time, hard work and sacrifice I can be where I need to be by the end of this year! My goal is around 200 lbs. and if I lose 2 lbs a week, it will take me nearly 10 months! That's ok, because it's taken a life time to get to this point. I want/NEED to turn this train around and glorify God with my body, be an example for my kids and enjoy the life God has given!
